Legendary crossbow marksman William Tell gets an epic drama that goes beyond the apple on his son's head. In 1307, the power-hungry Austrian Hapsburgs encroach on peaceful Switzerland. Tell (masterfully played by Claes Bang, also at the festival in Bonjour Tristesse) realizes what matters most: his family and preserving his country's independence for future generations.
