film synopsis
Motown-crooning raisins, the mischievous pizza-stealing Noid, anthropomorphized wise-cracking M&Ms. For a period of time the competitive world of television advertising was merely a canvas for the imaginative mind of visionary claymation creator Will Vinton and his eponymous studio. But for Vinton and his trademark moustache, it was the result of an unconventional, counterculture-inspired journey that led him to revolutionize animation and eventually be heralded as the next Walt Disney. Filmmaker Marq Evans traces Vinton’s unlikely success story through nostalgia-induced animation, the Berkeley protests and countless testimonials from peers and devout fans alike, until a business deal gone awry threatens to end everything. After amassing dozens of esteemed awards and accolades for decades, the business-naive Vinton faced losing his entire claymation empire to sportswear mega-company Nike and a young, aspiring Portland rapper named Chilly Tee.
