Hungarian visionary Ildikó Enyedi’s latest follows three loosely connected stories in different eras—1908, 1972, and 2020—all anchored by a majestic and mysterious ginkgo tree.

film synopsis

Hungarian visionary Ildikó Enyedi (The Story of My Wife, PSIFF 2022; On Body and Soul, PSIFF 2018) weaves a lyrical tapestry across three eras—1908, 1972, and 2020—anchored by a majestic ginkgo tree in a German botanical garden. A young photographer, a student, and a neuroscientist all find themselves drawn to the tree in moments of quiet reflection, connection, and change. With visual poetry, gentle humor, and keen observation, Enyedi examines how people relate to nature and to one another, and how even the briefest encounters can leave the most lasting impressions.
