film synopsis
After a car crash kills her partner, Laura (Paula Beer), a young piano student, is drawn into the uneasy kindness of Betty (Barbara Auer), a woman living within earshot of the accident. As Laura settles into Betty’s household, a routine of care and intimacy forms—yet under the domestic calm, buried secrets and traces of a fractured family history begin to surface. The latest from German auteur Christian Petzold (Transit, PSIFF 2019) is a hauntingly delicate drama about grief, identity, and the strange comfort of becoming someone else’s refuge.
