This intriguing, sunlit film noir, full of unexpected twists and strong sexual tension, unfolds on the Canary Islands, where a tennis pro may have been involved in a crime.

film synopsis

This intriguing, sunlit film noir, full of unexpected twists and strong sexual tension, marks the first English-language outing of German auteur Jan-Ole Gerster (Lara, PSIFF 2020), complete with international stars. Sam Riley (John Cranko, PSIFF 2025) excels as tennis has-been Tom, who now works as a Canary Islands hotel pro whom tourists can book by the hour during the day, leaving him to indulge in drink and drugs by night. Stacy Martin plays the wealthy guest who hires him to coach her young son. Gerster displays an excellent understanding of both noir conventions and the cinematic potential of the volcanic landscape.
