Part family drama, part historical portrait of ethnic tensions circa 1961 in South Tyrol, a northern Italian region with a German-speaking minority is shaken by a series of separatist bomb attacks. Talented artist Paul wants to escape the lack of prospects in his village and study painting in Munich. But when his hardliner brother, Anton, becomes a fugitive terrorist, Paul reluctantly puts his own plans on hold to support his brother’s wife, Anna, on their small farm. When events spin out of control, Paul must choose between following his dream and standing up against violence and his brother.
