director biography

Xinyi Zhu is a filmmaker born and raised in Suzhou, China. In her work, she aims to explore intimate relationships, genders, and topics about trans-corporeality and poststructuralism. 
Currently, she is set to co-direct a USC-Warner Bros. fictional feature, Phantom, that is sheduled to be in production in August 2020. She is developing her first feature Nanzhou Brothers, which she also wrote. She works with non-fictional content as well and her most recent credit is Quaran-zine Connections, a mini doc she made with A-Doc. Xinyi is currently based in LA as she pursues her MFA in Film Production at USC as a Jon M. Chu APAA Cinematic Arts Scholar. She holds a B.A. degree in Psychology from UCLA.
