"Sofia Banzhaf is a German-Canadian writer, actress and filmmaker whose work in front of the camera has garnered praise at TIFF and abroad (Closet Monster, dir. by Stephen Dunn, Splinters dir. by Thom Fitzgerald, 4 Quarters, dir. by Ashley McKenzie). She stars in the upcoming Black Conflux (dir. Nicole Dorsey) premiering at TIFF 2019, Honey Bee (dir. Rama Rau) alongside Martha Plimpton and Julia Sarah Stone, and the dramatic comedy Stage Mother (dir. Thom Fitzgerald), with Lucy Liu and Jacki Weaver. Her novella Pony Castle was the recipient of the Metatron Prize for Rising Authors. I Am in the World as Free and Slender as a Deer on a Plain is her latest short film."
