film synopsis
Hungry to prove his self-worth after being kicked out of his mother’s home, troubled 14-year-old Reynaldo Galindez falls in with a gang of local young hoods, agreeing to use his slight build to slip into a local business in the dead of night and rob it of a substantial load of cash. But the robbery quickly goes awry, sending Rey scrambling to escape, bounding off rooftops and tumbling down onto the patio of grizzled retiree Carlos (Germán de Silva, Wild Tales, Las Acacias). Captor and captive agree not to involve the police on the condition that the teen repairs the damage he caused, leading to an unlikely friendship and unexpected growth for Rey. But soon cops and thugs alike come looking for Rey—and the stash—leading to a tense showdown in this exciting and insightful debut feature from co-writer and director Santiago Esteves, winner of two Films in Progress Awards at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
