film synopsis

Daydreaming Kate (Ruth Wilson) has a boring job in a benefits office in a drab English seaside town. Then, into her office walks a cocky, bleach-blond ex-con (Tom Burke) who locks eyes with her and asks her on an instant date. Before she can blink, they’re having hot, rough sex in a parking garage and her life takes a thrilling and dangerous turn. Her lover has Trouble written all over his face, but Kate doesn’t care: she’s addicted to the romantic and sexual rush he provides. Powered by the extraordinary performances of Wilson (Showtime’s The Affair) and Burke (the junkie lover in The Souvenir), whose red-hot chemistry lights up this sharp, sensual psychological character study, True Things will speak to anyone who has ever fallen for Mr. or Ms. Wrong. Director Harry Wootliff brings a strong female point of view to this story of a woman who has to lose herself to find herself.
