film synopsis
In this crimson-soaked tale of vengeance and romance in patriarchal rural India, star-crossed lovers Johnny (Basil Paulose) and Anna (Vinitha Koshy) are caught in the middle of a decades-long war between their respective families. After serving time for killing Anna’s father in a brawl, Johnny’s uncle Kocheppu (Jose Kizhakkan) returns home, thwarting the couple’s plans to marry and kicking up the dust of an epic rivalry. Generational trauma and the devastating cycle of abuse highlight writer-director Nithin Lukose’s debut feature, which underlines how hate can fester and permeate through generations, even as the origin of the feud fades into the background. As the men of the families return to their hateful roots, brandishing weapons and spilling blood into the nearby river that bears witness to it all, the future for Johnny and Anna hangs in the balance.
