It may be true that “everyone’s a critic,” but this year, for the
first time, attendees of the Festival will be able to develop the
skills and know-how to think and write like a professional film
reviewer.
Join film critic Boyd van Hoeij in a two-day intensive
film review and criticism workshop that has proven highly
popular at other international festivals.
Using Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and the documentary about Kubrick’s film Room 237, as a starting point, this workshop is intended to be an immersive experience in film analysis/writing that will sharpen the critical perceptions of participants. Join us for this exciting, one-time opportunity!
Boyd van Hoeij is a Variety film critic, author, editor and
regular contributor to numerous leading European film
publications. Boyd will lead two three-hour sessions
covering such topics as: how to read and analyze
reviews; how to “read” films; and how to write about
film for different audiences.
