Adapted from the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris, the film follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling as she seeks the advice of imprisoned serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter in order to apprehend another serial killer. It won Academy Awards in all the top five categories

This series, in partnership with UCR Palm Desert, focuses on Academy Award-winning book-to-film selections. Viewers are encouraged to read the books prior to each screening.There will be a brief review and talk before the screening, followed by a discussion facilitated by Tod Goldberg, director of the UCR Palm Desert MFA program, cultural critic, and author of more than a dozen books.Registration is free, but seating is limited.
