film synopsis
In this endearing, oddball comedy, socially awkward Patrick (Kevin Janssens) works as the handyman on his parent’s naturalist campsite. His father is unwell and his mother is blind. Between taking care of them and responding to the demands of the camp’s very vocal, long-term clients, Patrick can barely wait to retreat to his rigidly ordered workshop to pursue his hobby of designing and creating furniture. Soon, two major blows strike: his father dies and his favorite hammer goes missing. How, in a place where everyone lets literally everything hang out, can something disappear? For his bold and surprisingly affecting feature debut, writer/director Tim Mielants took inspiration from a trip to a nudist camp with his parents in the 1980s. Amazingly, he has no problem convincing his desired actors, including Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), to appear in their birthday suits.
