film synopsis
At 92, instead of enjoying his retirement, former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad decided to save Malaysia from a corrupt regime that had lasted 60 years, and went on to become the oldest democratically elected prime minister in the world. Sickened by the ever-growing greed, corruption and excesses of his former protégé Prime Minister Najib Razak, who was implicated in what the U.S. Justice Department called “the largest kleptocracy in history,” Mohamad started a campaign for change. He was able to rally former enemies and unite supporters from all backgrounds, both young and old. Co-directed by Mohamad’s granddaughter Ineza Roussille, this enthralling documentary provides unprecedented access to his family, revealing candid details behind the scenes, as well as amazing footage of the huge rallies that took place all over Malaysia during these historic 2018 elections.
