film synopsis

Life has not been easy for 15-year-old Catholic school student Verónica (Sandra Escacena in a terrific debut). The de facto mom to her three younger siblings while their mother Ana (Ana Torrent, Spirit Of The Beehive) pulls long hours tending bar in downtown Madrid, Verónica struggles to keep her family together—all the while haunted by the memory of her recently deceased father. But when she and best friends Rosa and Diana skip classes in order to conduct a séance, Verónica unwittingly opens the door to an unspeakable horror—one that will stop at nothing to destroy both her and her family. With evil quickly taking over and hope fading, Verónica finds help from the mysterious Sister Death (Consuelo Trujillo), leading to an unforgettable standoff against the forces of darkness in this terrifying new horror film from [REC] series writer/director Paco Plaza.
