Andie MacDowell joins director Russell Harbaugh for the Q&A on January 10.

A beautifully realized portrait by writer/director Russell Harbaugh, Love After Love tells the story of a family quietly fractured by the passing of its patriarch. Standout performances from Andie McDowell and Chris O’Dowd as the widow and son bring this family to life with complexity and nuance.

film synopsis

After a long-suffering patriarch succumbs to illness, quietly fracturing his family, his wife Suzanne (Andie McDowell) and two sons Nicholas (Chris O'Dowd) and Chris (James Adomian) struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives. Through fleeting glimpses and simple moments, Love After Love catches up with each figure, often at family gatherings, as everyone attempts to move on in their own way, stumbling and triumphing little by little while time hurtles forever forward.

A beautifully realized portrait by writer/director Russell Harbaugh, the film gracefully and unsentimentally captures the everyday emotional weight contained within the individuals that up a family. The standout ensemble performances, especially from stars McDowell and O'Dowd, bring this family to life with blistering complexity and real nuance. With rare authenticity, Harbaugh demonstrates a gift for tonal control and subtle characterization, his camera gliding from moment to moment with true precision.
